We see lots of examples of “consultants” spouting all sorts of theories about what engagement is.
They conjure up a picture of a working environment full of happy smiling faces in which everything is wonderful. Like some scene from Snow White staff “whistle while they work” as bluebirds fly above twittering away to complete the picture of perfect harmony.
We are a lot more pragmatic in our view of engagement. True, we want staff to be happy in their work, but we recognise that the organisation and its staff have to work at engagement.
Organisations have financial plans, production plans, customer service plans, people plans and training plans but don’t think to create an Employee Engagement Plan. That’s where we come in.
